'Happyness' at Vogel
Vogel Alcove has served homeless children in Dallas for the last 25 years. In honor of its quarter-century anniversary, it has booked Chris Gardner to headline its Oct. 24 Ambassadors of Hope Luncheon. Gardner's autobiography, The Pursuit of Happyness, was made into a movie starring Will Smith and his son, Jaden Smith.
Among those honored at the event at the Ritz-Carlton will be Alan Gold, who will receive the Doris Budner Award; McKool Smith, which will receive the Corporate Champion Award; WFAA-TV (Channel 8), which will receive the Media Partner Award; Neiman Marcus, which will receive the Thelma Vogel Award; the original board of the Dallas Coalition for the Homeless, which will receive the Volunteer Award; and Ariana Luterman, who will receive the Kids Helping Kids Award.
Dawn Budner and Tina Wasserman are luncheon co-chairs. Halliday is serving as honorary chairman.
